“Diane, will you grow tomatoes for us?” “Of course!” Master Gardener Diane answered. What we thought would be several pounds a week turned into 20 plus pounds a week. Beautiful, delicious heirloom tomatoes graced our plates in salads, salsas, and more. Then there were peppers, micro greens, lettuces, edible flowers, summer squash to name a few. Each harvest bringing incredible produce that we shared with you.
This year, Diane will bring us assorted lettuces like Skyphos (butterhead), Truchas, and red butter romaine. Black magic and lacinado kale will also be on the menu. Her edible flowers, micro greens, and petite mustard greens add that extra pop of color and unexpected pop of flavor to our dishes. Fresh cilantro, basil, and tarragon will also play important roles in our kitchen this season. And what is summer without peppers and summer squash? You will taste gypsy, El Jefe jalapeño, shishito, poblano, bell peppers, and zucchini at their best. Summer isn’t over until the tomatoes arrive. Pounds and pounds of heirloom and assorted cherry tomatoes will once again become the star attraction in our salads, house made salsa, and more.
